"Mike Veny is the brightest new star to cross my musical path in a while. He has his own brand of rhythm and a distinctive style as well as the ultimate positive youth energy mixed with the 'funk' of a seasoned player, especially for the music in our services at St. Marks Church in-the-Bowery. He's sensitive, prompt, cooperative, and dedicated. When I speak of favorite drummers my references are people like Bernice Brooks, my longtime friend George Brown of Kool and the Gang, and my own cousin, the late Elvin Jones. He is doing great things and I'm sure will continue to find his very special place in our musical world!!!!!!! .......Here's to Mike Veny!!!!"
