I'd Like to Tell You About My Upcoming Performances
" 'Ba ba da bum, bad ba da bum. Now say it fast,' said my drum teacher. This statement was the first thing I ever learned about playing a drum set. Mike comes to my house at 12:57 every Saturday afternoon in a checkered shirt and dark blude jeans, and the first thing he says is "Ba ba da bum." The rhythm pattern consists of hitting four drums. I start slowly, then pick up speed, as my hands flow smoothly from drum to drum so as to not miss a beat.
Drum sets have become a big part of my life. Now instead of just watching the television or staring at the computer screen, I have a great hobby. My drumming has also helped me enjoy the music I listen to even more. Instead of just thinking that the song has a great beat, I can now get on my drum set and play that beat myself. Even though it takes a lot of practice and hard work, being able to play with pride is a great accomplishment, and every week I make Mike more proud."
